Val: I was watching a programme by Louis Theroux called Tough Love: Autism last week which followed a few families who had children with autism around for a week or so. Was such an interesting programme and showed some things people maybe never thought about autism. I felt really upset watching one mother and father physically restraining their son on the ground when he seemed to get really angry, suddenly! I don't know how to ask this as i'm not sure what the terminology is but, is your son high functioning and gets on well in everyday life? Does he go to a mainstream school? Trying to do an essay on Extreme Male Brain theory of autism, so theoretical! Learning about the spectrum is much more interesting. My son is in the Autism program at his school but does about 2 hours daily in mainstream class. Gradually he will be worked into a mainstream full time. Education wise he is at grade level and in some areas beyond. He just has a lot of Autistic behaviors to be worked on for him to be able to fully stay focused in mainstream education. He is high functioning and does well in his everyday life such as dressing himself and brushing his own teeth. He has no problem in that area. It took a lot of work but it was so worth it for him not be be dependent on me or anyone else for help with simple day to day task. He does still flap the hands occasionally and randomly yells out a noise or two. But it's a work in progress and from what the Dr's say in time they believe he can over come everything and not show anymore Autistic like behaviors. Sounds like your son is doing great! Must be so proud of him after all your hard work! Great for you to know he will be able to live independently! I never knew you could work out all the behaviours of autism, that really is something, but sounds like you had done all the hard work. You should be proud of yourself too!

Thanks Emz but I can't take all the credit many teachers and specialist had a part in it as well.

it feels fanfreakintastic to dust off the cobwebs off of my username...holy smokes I have missed this! Well now I can't have the freedom of posting like I was used to due to the fact that I don't have a computer...but at least I can write. I have 10 tats already on my body but as of last week I started working on my back piece that will be done in 3-4 sessions. I have always wanted to do this and it has taken me a very long time to decipher what I want and who is going to do it. I met with an artist and we will soon begin....I will try and figure out a way to post pics here when it begins. I have most of you lovelies on my Facebook but there is just something about seeing our old names that make me feels all warm and fuzzy inside.
